Dancin' in the Street!
Tonight was the girls' second and final dance recital for the summer. It is the same show, just during a street festival in Vittorio Veneto. A couple close friends from out of town came to see the show with us and have dinner. Katia and her son Michaelangelo are so funny! They live about 30 minutes away and come to see the family often. Michaelangelo or "Mickey" as they call him, is a riot! He is the cutest little 4 year old boy and I just couldn't get enough of him. He has a very big personality! He was jealous that the girls got to dance because he wanted to go with them. What a cutie! Dinner was interesting tonight! Angelo went to a bakery this morning and came back with all sorts of bags of things but said they were a surprise for later. Gianna opened it up and there was a huge circular tower of a sandwich! It was 12 bread slices high and cut in 10 triangle pieces all the way down. I wish I had taken a picture because I have never seen anything like it before. Every layer had different toppings. One was cucumber and salmon, another was salami and peppers, and another was formaggio and tomatoes. Each of the layers had a piece of wax paper in between so they wouldn't mix. It was pretty tasty! Another yummy surprise was some sort of bite size croissants with pizza sauce in the middle. They were a little plain but good. Then, we were off to the festival. I don't really know what the occasion is again...I have a feeling Italians really like to party it up in the summer and don't have to have any special occasion! The streets of downtown were packed and so many dancers! Since we got there so early and the show started very late, we were in the front row to see very well. The girls did so well! They had a great time and kept dancing all the way to get gelato. On a side note, I have decided that I am going to Verona on Saturday by myself on the train...hopefully I won't get lost! Angelo and I are going to look up the train times and a map so I should be fine. It is about 2 hours away by train. I am excited to see everything Romeo and Juliet in Verona! Now, I am off for some much needed sleep! Ciao!

I so LOVE ice cream. I would be in trouble with all that gelato. My mouth waters every time you talk about it.
