Baking Cookies with the Girls!

Today was fun being home with the girls and baking cookies! They didn't turn out as great as the last batch...not at all...they are awful! Angelo and Gianna are so nice to tell me that they are that bad but their faces say it all! I tried a new recipe but thought they still wouldn't be sweet enough...so I added rum. Not a good idea! It was next to the vanilla bottle that only had a little in it so I added rum to it. I don't know if it was actually rum or just a sweetener but you can really taste it in the cookies and it isn't good...Gianna said to me, "What taste do I have in my mouth thabt won't go away?" I said to her, "Well, I think it's rum....not so good huh?" They are also really chewy, not hard like the last ones. She asked me why they are so soft...I guess I should have baked them long enough. I made two different kinds, one with chocolate chunks and one with raisins or dates I think. The girls had fun and that's all that matters but really, I wasn't so lucky this time around! Tonight, Angelo went on his long bike ride with his friends to the mountain. I thought Gianna and I would make dinner and have a good night in because it is still so hot outside. Oh no....that's not what happened! She comes home after working all day, mind you she rode her bike all the way to and from work. She asked me if I thought I could ride Angelo's bike with the baby seat on the back to go for a LITTLE bike ride. I thought that should be fine, even though his bike is pretty big. Well, let's just say that it didn't work out so well...the bike seat wouldn't stay up where I needed it to be so it kept falling down and then I was sitting on poor Anna's legs!!! It really didn't work out well and it was not an easy breezy bike ride either! There are gravel roads, huge hills, bugs, SNAKES in the road, and of course, bats! I think the country living isn't for me but it really is a nice ride if I forget about how bad my legs hurt tonight. When I tried to get off the bike when we got home, I just couldn't get off! I literally couldn't swing my leg over...it was so embarrassing but I was just so glad to be home! I know I have said this before but let me repeat myself...this family is anything but lazy! Gianna works harder than anyone I have ever met AND somehow finds time to workout like a mad woman. She ran about 4 kilometers this morning, rode her bike to and from work, worked from 9:00am to 7:45pm, then came home and was excited to go on another long bike ride! Man, I wish I had a quarter of energy this lady has! Even Angelo, he worked all day and then comes home and goes on a bike ride and didn't get home until just now at midnight! Anyway, they blow me away and I look like a little wuss compared to them! Tomorrow, Katia and Michaelangelo come to stay for the day! They are coming to the house around 10am and then we are planning on swimming in the backyard pool for a bit and then just relaxing for the rest of the day. I am excited to see them again because Katia is so sweet and Mickey is just a doll! Ciao for now and more tomorrow!
