Fun Night of Guests, Gelato, and Goofy Faces!
Today was another very relaxing day at home with Momo, at least for the morning. I attempted to make eggs this morning but managed to burn them because their stove gets very hot! I ate them anyway and had some fresh bread and cheese too. After I ate breakfast, I did some laundry and watered the flowers upstairs. By lunchtime, the girls came home from school and we had some leftover pizza. The girls went down for a nap while I relaxed and watched "Chocolat", a very good movie! Giulia woke up from her nap and came down the stairs, just in her undies and said to me, "Addie, I'm hungry...". So cute! I taught them that and they are just now saying it to me all the time. One of their other favorite things to say to me is, "Water, Addie please!" I am trying to get them to know a lot of animal names and colors by the shows we watch on National Geographic. They have been counting really well too! When I came here, Giulia knew how to count to 11 in English and now she is about to 15 so that is progress! Somedays she is not interested in a lesson and that's okay, but I try everyday to get them to do some sort of a game with the flash cards. After I made a snack, Gianna's mother, Pina, and her boyfriend, Roberto, came in for a small visit and to have dinner with us. While I was doing my laundry downstairs, I heard a bird chirping like crazy from the other room. I could hear that it was not from outside so I ran back upstairs, thinking it was in the big room next to the stairs! When Angelo came home an hour later, I took him down there and sure enough, it was a little baby bird that was on top of their cabinets downstairs! Angelo took it out and put it in the birdhouse out front so hopefully its Mama can find it there, chirping away! I forgot to tell you that the other night while we were eating dinner, I saw a mouse scurrying across the patio and I screamed, "Oh my gosh, oh my gosh!" Angelo and Gianna went after it with his hiking boots and were able to catch it...I mean kill it...poor mouse! I shouldn't have said anything I guess because then it could have got away. I guess it wasn't a mouse but more of a small mole or something they have here that digs holes in your yard that they don't like here. Anyway, they have been laughing about it all week and they told the story to Pina and Roberto today and laughed some more...I guess my reaction was very funny to them! I did the same thing the first day I was there and I saw a small lizard run across the patio! I am used to them now because they are everywhere! That is one reason that I always keep my windows and doors locked tight at night because they could come in! Ahhh, no more small creepy animals for me please! Anyway, back to tonight...while Angelo stayed home and put together a huge pool on the side of the house, we all went to the city center to take a walk and of course, eat some gelato! When we got back home, dinner was served! We had a really good lasagna with a salad and lots of tomatoes. Of course, we had plenty of gelato for dessert! After dinner, the "adults" had some liquor of some sort while the girls and I had fun making up games in the living room. They had a fashion show with music and everything! Well, that's it for me tonight and now I am off to bed. Tomorrow, the girls are not going to school in the morning and will be here with me until 12:30. After that, Gianna and I will take the girls to the big swimming pool for an afternoon in the sun! Arrivederchi!
