On Our Way to the Best Prosciutto in Italy!

On Friday, it was the last day I had to spend the morning with the girls. Instead of swimming in the pool, we danced and played with the new music toy. They performed for us while we were trying to buy tickets for Rome the next day...not easy! I will miss them so much. They are really wonderful girls and I have become very close to them. It was a great day to spend at home and cook eggs for the last time with them and say, "Yum, thank you Chef Addie!" So sweet! After Gianna came home, we went to Udine and San Daniele, about 1 1/2 hours away from home. It was a nice drive through the countryside and we were glad to be in an air conditioned car and not out in the heat! We arrived in Udine first and walked around the city center and up to a museum far up on the hill. We were way too hot so we decided that after some shopping, we would head to dinner in San Daniele. It is known in Italy for the best prosciutto in all of Italy so we were excited to try it! Gianna told us to try a restaurant across the street from the hospital in town. We arrived and they immediately gave us the English speaking waiter, who was very nice and immediately had a little Italian crush on! He was very helpful and was nice to talk to. There was no set menu so he brought us out platters of food, from a huge platter of prosciutto, to many types of cheeses, and then mushrooms and artichokes. It was really good but I wished we had ordered all of the prosciutto cooked and not raw, some was not cooked so it was a little harder to eat. After dinner, we headed back home because we were so exhausted from the long day before. Another great day in Italy, driving to a new place everyday!
